Ibiza is known for its famous hippy street markets, like the ones of Las Dalias and Punta Arabí. But besides these two markets and other markets that pop up in the summer in other popular villages on the island, Sant Jordi hosts the most authentic flea market of all. Read on to discover why you should spend a Saturday morning going to this village that is barely a 5-mintue drive away from Ibiza Sun Apartments.
This flea market par excellence is held in the former racecourse of Ibiza every Saturday. On its countless stalls, you will find clothes, accessories, crockery, records, furniture, old things, rarities and all sorts of stuff... The Sant Jordi market is known for its relaxed atmosphere because anyone can set up their own stall. They simply have to book a place beforehand. This is why the people who visit it are so diverse: locals, travellers, new residents, foreigners, treasure hunters, decorators...
This small village that is half-way between Ibiza and the airport has a marked local atmosphere. It has a broad array of restaurants, whether it’s hamburgers at Can Sala and Vinyl Burger, traditional home cooking at Rasca Lobos or pizzas at Es Tancó. So after a stroll through the Sant Jordi market, you might like to stay and have lunch in the village. Also, the church of Sant Jordi is different from all the rest on the island because it preserves its crenelated walls as a reminder of its defensive nature.
After lunch, there’s nothing better than a siesta or a refreshing swim, don’t you think? You can go back to Ibiza Sun Apartments to enjoy either option or visit the nearby beaches of Ses Salines and Es Cavallet which are a very short drive away from Sant Jordi.
