Spring rolls: interesting facts and other stories

Thai cuisine is influenced by other Asian cultures, like the Indian, Vietnamese and Chinese cultures. In fact, spring rolls come from China filled with loads vegetables to make the most of the vast amount of greens that grow during this season. Its name, Popiah, travelled all the way to Thailand with a tribe that was fleeing the Chinese province of Fujian, although the recipe changed slightly on the way: in China, the pastry is made with flour, slightly salty water and some people add egg, whereas the people in Thailand wrap their rolls in rice paper before frying them. Also, Thai spring rolls usually have garlic, ginger and finely chopped coriander.

Tasting menu of SUNTHAI spring rolls

Our new proposal for your Thai dinner on Playa d’en Bossa focuses on the iconic Asian dish: spring rolls. Discover all the different fillings with our new tasting menu of SUNTHAI spring rolls served every day from 6 p.m. until 10.30 p.m. This special menu is prepared for 2 people minimum and is €18 per person (drinks not included) and it includes:

• An assortment of chicken and vegetable Thai spring rolls to start with.
• Gaai Laab salad with minced chicken, mint and lime juice.
• Another assortment of Thai spring rolls made with tofu, cuttlefish and pork with shrimp.
• And for dessert, banana spring roll with coconut ice-cream and iced lemonade with lemongrass and mint.

Besides this delicious proposal, Sun Thai also offers another tasting menu with an assortment of Thai specialities, including the king prawn skewer, Pad Thai of chicken, shrimps and vegetables and pork Panaeng curry, among other dishes.
